The Centurion was one of the most widely-used tanks in the West during the Cold War, appearing in a wide range of variations. The Centurion Mk.5/2 is equipped with an L7 105mm main gun, replacing the previous 20pdr. (83.4mm bore diameter) gun, increasing the Centurion's armor-piercing capability by nearly 25%.
AFV Club continues to add to its stable of magnificent Centurion kits with this Mk. 5 with dozer blade attachment variant. As with the previous kits, many of the grab handles and guard plates are molded as separate parts, and a nice fret of photo-etched parts are included. The suspension bogies are workable via brass springs, and the road wheels have rubber-like rims made of soft plastic. The nicely-formed 20pdr. gun barrel is lathed aluminum with rifling detail. Periscopes, including those of the commander's cupola, are molded in transparent plastic. A length of nylon twine is included for the tow cable. The tracks are the cementable rubber belt type, and are nicely detailed. The dozer blade and attachments are of course all-new toolings.
